R E S I D E N T I A L
When this 1957 holiday cottage was to be
transformed into a family home with a working
studio attached, the objective was to maintain its
distinctive and easy going beach style.
Structural alternations were essential for the living
room and kitchen area to create a welcoming open
space where family and friends can gather,
chat and relax. The most obvious change was to
add sky lights and large windows to allow maximum
natural light to come in.
The additional effect is an interior that floats
smoothly towards an exotic garden.
The 50's lines of the spacious terrace is mirrored in
the kitchen shape. The kitchen required careful
planning to provide intelligent use of space and a
stylish look. The storage wall unit deliberately deters
the uninvited from the living area to preserve privacy
and at the same time maintains an open air feel.
Cool, modern and sophisticated materials are
combined with strong planning principles to result in
an innovative interior design to suit today's life style.
